From Egg to Chick
On Monday, 20th April, we had a special delivery of 10 eggs and an incubator. We are looking after the eggs for two weeks and observing the changes that take place. On Tuesday, we noticed a crack in one of the shells and we spent the afternoon watching them but nothing happened. When we arrived in school on Wednesday morning three of the chicks had hatched. We were lucky enough to see one the chicks hatching later that day. By Thursday, all of the chicks had hatched and we moved them to the brooder box. We have really enjoyed observing the chicks and cannot wait to start handling them next week.
During Hindu week we explored the festival Diwali. The children made diva lamps and created Rangoli patterns using a variety of media. We also had a special visitor who showed us how to put on a traditional Sari. A brilliant time was had by all!
The children visited Smithills farm in Bolton and took part in lots of lovely activities. They fed the lambs, held chicks, stroked rabbits and even came up close to an Owlet. They also went on a bumpy donkey ride and went speeding through the fields on a tractor ride. The children had a fabulous day as the photographs show.
