Update 23/03/2020  13:30

If your child is coming to school this week, as soon as they get in, have a black bin liner ready just inside the front door.

  • Place all of the children's clothes in the bin liner.
  • Take bin liner straight to the washing machine.
  • Scrunch clothes into a ball.
  • Do not touch ANY part of washing machine.
  • Door should already be open.
  • Carefully place clothes inside washing machine making sure you do not touch sides.

Your child should then go straight to shower.  They need to wash their body and hair thoroughly with soap/shampoo/shower gel.

It is extremely important that children come to school in clean clothes each day and not clothes that they wore the previous day. The virus can live on clothes for many hours.

Cell membranes of this virus are weak so all it takes is soap and water to kill it.

Letter to Parents/Carers as Key Workers

Update - 20/03/2020  11:10

All home learning packs are now available to be collected from school.  Please arrange to have your child's pack collected by 4 pm today.  If you are self-isolating and nobody can collect your pack please telephone the office.

Teachers will still be in school next week to provide essential care for the children of Key Workers, they will remain active on Seesaw during school hours and will try their best to answer any queries/questions.

Many thanks.

Update - 19/03/2020  14:40

As we await further clarification regarding key workers we are currently using this unofficial list:

  • All NHS Staff
  • All Emergency Services
  • All Education Staff
  • Supermarket workers including delivery drivers.

The above list is not exhaustive and could change when the Government release an update later today.  Please can we ask Parents to consider that it is for BOTH Parents as Key Workers.  If your job is not listed and you feel it should be, please contact school to discuss.

We must remind Parents that school is officially closed and we will be open to purely support Key Workers who are directly tasked with fixing this incredible problem and keeping the Country's infrastructure working.

Thank you for your support.

Update - 19/03/2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you in advance for your incredible support of your amazing children and staff as we get through these uncertain times together.

As advised by the Government, schools will close from tomorrow (Friday 20th March 2020).  As you may be aware, we have been asked to try and keep schools open for children of key workers and vulnerable children.  Children who do not fall into these groups should remain at home with appropriate care.  We do not know as yet what this provision will look like and we will update you as soon as we know.

Unfortunately, during this time there will be no Care Club facilities.  Schools will be open from 8.45 am until 3.15 pm each day.

We are expecting to receive clear guidance on key workers from the Local Authority at some point today.  The messages on the news, 11.00 am today, are stating these 'key workers' are NHS staff, all Emergency Services and Delivery Drivers, but we appreciate this is an evolving list and we have been advised it will be updated again this afternoon.

Following this clarification, we now need to compile a list of which children are eligible and indeed, if their parents require this childcare facility.

Please contact the school office, by telephone or email, immediately if you think you fall into the relevant category, outlining your job role and only if you require childcare having exhausted all other possibilities.  Only then can we ensure we have the right amount of staff to support all families who genuinely need it.

Thank you.

Mrs J M Farrimond

Update - 18/03/2020

Dear  Parents/Carers,

Thank you for your patience and support during these challenging times.   To update you on our current school actions, we are continuing to follow Government and Local Authority advice.  As such school will remain open until we are advised otherwise.

We will continue to support any families choosing to self isolate and we appreciate any updates you might have on yours and your children's symptoms. This can be done via telephone or email.

Staff are currently putting together 'Home Learning Packs' should schools be instructed to close.  These will be sent home with children on the day we are instructed to close.  If your child is absent from school on the day of closure, please arrange to have the pack collected from the school office by 4 pm, if this is not possible, please contact the office.

If school were to close for a lengthy time, we would then reassess how to send additional work home.  Seesaw will be our main access point and we urge all parents to sign up if you haven't already done so.  Shorter communications will be made via Twitter and the school website.  Email might be used too.

In the meantime, we value sharing your strength and support and know we will get through this together.

Mrs J.M. Farrimond

Following the updated Government guidance relating to the prevention against Covid 19 we wish to reassure our Parents/Carers that we will continue to follow advice and recommendations from Public Health England and the Government.

As announced by the Prime Minister last week, there are no plans currently to 'blanket' close schools.  However we are asking that any children with a slight fever/cough/cold or feeling even slightly unwell to be kept off school for 7 days.  If in doubt, please telephone 111 for advice.  It is vital that you telephone school immediately to enable us to keep track of children who are 'self isolating'.  Please be reassured that we are continually taking preventative measures in school and the following measures will be in place from Monday 16th March 2020 until further notice.

  •  All whole school/phase assembles cancelled until further notice (including the Easter Service led by Year 3 pupils and the school disco).
  • Minimal 'carpet time' in the classrooms to avoid close contact with other pupils.
  • School sporting events to be postponed/rescheduled.
  • Parent Consultation evening to be postponed.
  • Water fountains in the classrooms will not be used (children are encouraged to bring in their own labelled water bottle).
  • After School Clubs will continue for the time being.
  • Teachers are preparing 'home learning packs' in the event of any school closure.

We are continuing to follow advice from the Local Authority and the Government and we hope that Parent/Carers fully support and understand our decisions.
