Session three - Come back to me
God says 'Come back to me'
Our children have been learning about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. You may know this as Confession or Penance - it is the same thing.
We celebrated this together in Family Reconciliation during Advent.
The word reconcile means to make up, to make peace with something or someone.
God calls us to make right choices. What we do for others shows our love for Jesus.
Real forgiveness doesn't come naturally. God helps us to forgive if we ask so that we can learn to forgive from the heart. We can't pretend to forgive. We have to mean it. We have to forgive over and over again. To do this we always need God's help.
Prayer of Sorrow:
'O my God, because you are so good, I am very sorry that I have sinned against you and my neighbour. By the help of your grace, I will not sin again. Amen.'
Psalm 34:11-14 from the Old Testament
'Come my young friends and listen to me, and I will teach you to honour the Lord.
Would you like to enjoy life? Do you want long life and happiness?
Then hold back from speaking evil and from telling lies.
Turn away from evil and do good; strive for peace with all your heart.'
