My passion / personal experiences with Design Technology

I enjoy leading Design and Technology across primary school, including EYFS, because it gives children the opportunity to become creative, resilient and independent thinkers. I am passionate about encouraging pupils to follow the design, make and evaluate process, allowing them to explore ideas, solve real-life problems and reflect on how they can improve their work.

Experiences in our school

 In EYFS, I love seeing children develop curiosity through hands-on exploration, building early skills in designing, constructing and evaluating in meaningful and imaginative ways. As pupils progress through school, DT enables them to apply knowledge from a range of subjects while developing confidence, teamwork and innovation. I am inspired by designers such as James Dyson and chefs such as Gordon Ramsey, as well as people from industries such as engineering, architecture and technology, who demonstrate how creativity and problem-solving can shape the future.

Hope and goals in Design Technology

Looking ahead, I want DT to continue evolving through sustainability, inclusive design and emerging technologies so that children are prepared for a rapidly changing world and understand how they can become the next generation of designers, engineers and innovators.
