Spring Term
We love rainy days!
We have been investigating floating and sinking. We made predictions about whether different materials would float or sink. Outdoors, the children have been building pirate ships as part of their imaginative play. We explored the garden in search of treasure and enjoyed flying our pirate flags.

Traffic
We have been observing the traffic that passes the nursery. We spotted lots of cars and vans and made marks to represent what we saw. Once finished, we looked at our tick charts and talked about which we saw the most, linking this to our new Word Aware vocabulary.
Handwriting

In Letter Join this week, we have been learning about spirals. Look at all of our wonderful spirals.

Jackson Pollock Art
This week we explored the work of Jackson Pollock and took inspiration from his expressive painting style. We spent time outdoors experimenting with dripping, splattering and pouring paint onto material.
Lent walk
Today we started our Lent walk and visited the shop in small groups. We talked about people who help us in the shop and the jobs they do. We bought some healthy snacks, paid and got a receipt.
Summer Term
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
This term in Nursery, we have been reading the wonderful story The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The children have been busy observing and talking about the changes they can see, while taking part in lots of exciting activities. We have enjoyed observational drawing, wrapping ourselves up and pretending to be cocoons, and learning all about the life cycle of a butterfly.
We can’t wait to see the butterflies emerge! 🦋
World Book Day
On World Book Day we welcomed children from Year 3 and Year 6 into nursery to share some of our favourite stories. They spent time reading with us and helping us explore lots of lovely books.
After reading, everyone had great fun playing in the nursery and getting to know one another.
Pop Up Play Village
This morning, the children in Nursery had a fantastic visit from Pop Up Play Village. They enjoyed exploring a range of role play areas, including the vets, hospital, builders’ yard and shop.
It’s been a really lovely morning for everyone!
