At St. Aidan’s, we are committed to supporting pupils with medical conditions in line with Wigan Council’s policy and statutory guidance. The school ensures that all pupils with medical needs are able to access a full education, including school trips and physical activities, through the implementation of individual healthcare plans where appropriate. We work closely with parents, carers, healthcare professionals, and the local authority to provide a safe and inclusive environment. Our procedures follow Wigan Council’s legislation and guidance to ensure staff are trained, responsibilities are clear, and pupils’ health, safety, and wellbeing remain our highest priority.

Understanding Online Risks
While the internet offers many positive learning opportunities, it can also pose risks if not used safely. Children and young people may be exposed to inappropriate or harmful content, online bullying, or contact from people they don’t know.
- These dangers can include:
- Viewing unsuitable or inappropriate content (e.g. adult, violent, or extremist material).
- Giving out personal information online
- Arranging to meet someone they’ve only met on the internet.
- Experiencing or taking part in online bullying or identity theft.
- Spending too much time online, affecting concentration, wellbeing, or sleep.
- Copying or buying online work and presenting it as their own.
At St. Aidan’s, we work with pupils, parents, and staff to raise awareness of these risks and teach strategies to stay safe online.
How We Promote Online Safety
- Regular online safety lessons within our Computing and PSHE curriculum
- Internet filters and monitoring systems in school.
- Annual Safer Internet Day activities
- Ongoing staff training and updates
- Parent workshops and shared resources
Our E-Safety Policy
Online Safety PolicyOur school’s E-Safety Policy outlines how we protect pupils and promote responsible online behaviour across all areas of school life.
The internet is an important part of everyday life for our pupils, both at home and in school. At St. Aidan’s, we are committed to helping children use technology safely, respectfully, and responsibly. We teach pupils how to protect themselves online and encourage parents and carers to be involved in supporting safe internet use at home.
