Art
My passion / personal experiences with Art
Art has always been more than just a subject to me; it is a powerful form of expression, communication and exploration. I have always loved art because it allows freedom- there is no single ‘right’ answer, and every individual can bring their own ideas, feelings and imagination for their work. During my A level studies, where art was my main focus, I developed not only practical skills but also a deep appreciation for the creative process. This passion continued throughout my teacher training, where art remained central to my development as an educator.
Experiences in our school
As a teacher, I value art for the joy and confidence it brings to children. I have seen how it can engage pupils who mat struggle in other areas, giving them a sense of achievement and pride. Art encourages creativity, resilience and problem solving. It allows every child to feel successful in their own unique way. This is one of the main reasons I am so passionate about teaching it.
In my role as Art Coordinator, I am committed to creating an inclusive, inspiring and well-structured art curriculum that nurtures creativity across the school. I aim to support colleagues in delivering high-quality lessons, ensure clear progression of skills and promote art in the wider school community. I am particularly passionate about introducing children to a wide range of artists, cultures and styles so they can develop a broader understanding of the world.
Hope and goals in Art
Looking to the future, I hope to further develop the profile of art within our school by creating opportunities for children to showcase their work and feel proud of their achievement. I would like to continue growing my own subject knowledge new techniques, and bringing fresh ideas into the classroom. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire a lifelong love of art in every child and to ensure they leave St Aidan’s Primary School feeling confident in their creativity and ability to express themselves.
