Music

Meet The Subject Coordinator

Miss L.Cassidy

Music Coordinator

Why I love music:

Music was always one of my favourite subjects when I myself was at Primary School. Music is powerful. It adds joy, colour, and creativity to life, bringing people together and creating memorable experiences for every child. I love teaching music because it gives children the freedom to express themselves freely and build confidence. Music encourages teamwork, collaboration, listening, and creativity while allowing all children to feel included and successful. It can inspire happiness, reduce anxiety, and help children communicate emotions in a positive way. Seeing children at St. Aidan's enjoy music, achieve well, and grow in confidence is incredibly rewarding.

Experience in our school:

My personal highlights are events such as Young Voices and WOW's music festival that we attend. They give children valuable opportunities to build confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills while experiencing the excitement of performing as part of a large community. These events inspire children by allowing them to work collaboratively, celebrate their achievements and share their love of music with others in a positive and supportive environment. Taking part in performances helps children develop self-belief and a sense of pride, while also creating lasting memories.

Hopes and Dreams in music:

My hope as a music lead is to inspire every child to develop confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music. Through music, children can strengthen important skills such as listening, concentration, teamwork, and perseverance, helping them to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. I hope to create an environment where children feel encouraged, valued, and able to express themselves freely. By walking hand in hand with Jesus and living through faith, I want children to understand the importance of self-expression, collaboration, and using their talents to bring joy to others. Music can uplift, unite, and help children grow spiritually, emotionally, and academically as they journey through life with faith and purpose.

Music is an important part of life at our school, and we are proud to give children exciting opportunities to perform beyond the classroom. Each year, our pupils take part in large-scale events such as Young Voices, where they join thousands of other children to sing in an unforgettable arena performance. We also participate in the WOWS Music Festival in Wigan, celebrating the talent, confidence and creativity of young musicians across local schools. These experiences help our children develop a love of music, build confidence, work as part of a team and create memories that will last a lifetime.
